A shield-shaped embroidered item with a semicircular base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, 1 7/8 inches (4.76 cm) in width and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in height overall, consisting of a background divided vertically scarlet to left and ultramarine blue to right, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) counterchanged border triple notched at the horizontal center line, the lower notch conjoined to a white triangle centered vertically throughout point to base. The beret flash was approved on 17 September 1990.
